About Warren G. Kruse

Case History

Examples of our extensive experience, and a testimonial:

"It would give me pleasure to recommend you to law firms and companies requiring assistance with computer analyses and forensics. Your ability to explain to non-technical managers and lawyers what you found and how you found it made it possible for us to enlist the support of forces inside and outside the company to thwart efforts to steal from us."

Joseph Ippolito, Esq.
Executive Vice President, Litigation (retired)
Lucent Technologies

A few examples of the many cases we have worked:

5-6-04: Computer Forensic Services, LLC conducted extensive forensics for a client that received a settlement worth up to $25 million (all our cases are highly confidential, settlement information is according to a filing with securities regulators).

Theft of Intellectual Property and Trade Secrets

We conducted extensive analysis of computers and network activity for individuals thought to be starting their own business with the trade secrets and intellectual property of the company where they worked. Those individuals have been indicted for conspiracy to steal trade secrets and possession of stolen trade secrets from several companies. For their work in this case our principles, Warren G. Kruse II and Michael Barba, were recipients of the 2001 HTCIA “Case Of The Year Award”.

Confidential Information

In a case where dozens of employees were suspected of possessing confidential information that they should not have, we analyzed over thirty machines in just over a weekend to meet the timetable we were given.

Regulatory case

In a case of an investigation by the SEC, we imaged several dozen machines to turn them over to the SEC. This was also done within a short period of time.

Civil Case

Defending a civil lawsuit, we conducted forensics in several states and in two foreign countries. In one country we imaged and analyzed over twenty machines on-site in only three days. Over fifty computers were imaged and analyzed within a short period of time. Suspected conflict of interest case Seventy-seven computers were sent to us to process for one recent case. The case was initiated with little information and within a short period of time we provided the organization's upper management with detailed information on the matter.

Suspect conflict of interest case

Seventy-seven computers were sent to us to process for one recent case. The case was initiated with little information and within a short period of time we provided the organization's upper management with detailed information on the matter. We have conducted several cases of this nature.

Intrusion into a small company

Most companies believe that only large corporations are targets of hackers, but a small firm who believed that one of the servers might have been hacked contacted us. We found dozens of Trojans and hacker tools on the server, some had been deleted, but many were still actively running. Our thorough examination also revealed that several other machines on their network had been compromised as well.

Intrusion into a large company

We have worked numerous intrusion cases. In one case a company contacted us when they suspected their network had been illegally accessed and wanted to confirm their suspicions. We confirmed the network had been illegally accessed and located and retrieved copies of their stolen software, conducted forensics on large RAID servers, on a secondary network that had been used by the hackers.

Defense of a sexual harassment case

A lawsuit was brought by an employee of a company for sexual harassment, over a year and half after she left the company. We analyzed the former employees computer after it had been reloaded with the companies "standard software load" and used by another employee, for that year and a half.. We were able to recover over 1700 e-mails from the former employee used to refute the claim.
